Nathan_is_happening The "math-rock" label no longer means anything to me. It is often used to describe music that is technically impressive for the sole sake of being technically impressive. yet not remotely groovy.

That description does not apply to Alarmist. Their stuff is groovy as hell. Call it math rock if you like - I just call it groovy as hell.

Shake dat ass. Favorite track: Bathtime for Squid.

Audrey Yung A total treat. Never heard anything quite like Alarmist - endlessly catchy, with an awesome technical groove. The multiple instrumentals layer well and help build an atmosphere. Favorite track: Bathtime for Squid.

manipulated, and [they] take a quasi orchestral approach that allows their music to hover in its
own instrumental space, gravitationally pulled toward a rock aesthetic but constantly implying
other philosophies in a way that excites.” 12 Points Festival
